ARMANDO ALVARES PENTEADO (FAAP) TAKING PART IN EARTH HOUR
We are organizing an exclusive event to foster the movement of collective awareness for sustainability

Our goal of educating conscious citizens concerned for the future of Earth has prompted São Paulo's Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP) to join the global 'Earth Hour' movement in a symbolic event organized by the WWF in order to mobilize people about the consequences of global warming. At 8.30 pm on Saturday March 26, we will be switching off the lights on the facade of the building housing the Brazilian Art Museum.

Lights will be projected on the building's facade in an outdoor spectacle of colors and lighting effects using 3-D mapped technique with background music. The purpose of the presentation is to draw attention to an issue that has now mobilized over 1.3 billion people worldwide.  Many more will be signing up after the systematic publicity FAAP is planning, in as far as it depends on our efforts.

A video of the event will be made and broadcast in several countries. The institutional film will show the presentation made for the "Earth Hour" movement with guest anchors for this initiative. Everybody will be lighting a candle as the lights are turned off, thus symbolizing people coming together to preserve Earth.

We call on teachers and students to take part in the activity, along with political leaders and people engaged with environmental issues.

The event is just one of many FAAP initiatives to ensure students are aware of the importance of sustainable development. The Foundation's Energy and Sustainability Research Center has been developing research and proposals for the conscious use of natural resources and energy since 2009. The center also organizes frequent talks and seminars led by experts and is offering specific degrees and postgraduate courses training professionals for the different fields of what are known as the "green professions."
